Crafting just the right parenting plan

On Behalf of | Jun 3, 2022 | Child Custody

When you begin the divorce process in Florida, you might feel a bit overwhelmed with everything that you need to work out. One of the details is a parenting plan that works for both parents if you have children together. Here are a few ways that you can create an ideal plan that takes your children into consideration a bit more than each other.

Children’s interests

While you might be tempted to think about your own schedule and the time that you spend with your children, something that you want to think about when making a child custody parenting plan is their best interests. Their needs should be at the forefront of any decision that you make including their school schedule, where they want to live, and the activities that they enjoy.

Scheduling your plan

When you put the details of your parenting plan on paper, consider the work schedules of each parent. This can sometimes help determine who your children should live with during the week and who they can spend time with on the weekends. Think about holidays and summer vacations as each of you should be able to spend time with your children on these special occasions while still being fair in the process.

Communication

One of the most important things to consider when making a parenting plan is communication. If there are any concerns or conflicts, then you want to make sure you address them as soon as possible. Don’t argue with each other as this could result in no one getting what they want along with adding more stress for your children.

Making a parenting plan that works involves consideration and thinking about your children as well as each other.
